Post Nepal Trip and Post Production
Spending a month in Nepal was amazing. I am so thankful for so many opportunities that trip gave me. Claire paired me with an amazing Fixer/Line Producer and talented filmmaker, Sushil. I quickly realized how much deeper I could go with the story with him being able to help me get connected to great people to interview. I feel so blessed to have met him and to have worked with him. We were able to interview a variety of different perspectives. I got to learn a lot, some things I have heard about before while researching and some things I never realized. I learned a lot as a filmmaker out there as well, just being able to hangout with other filmmakers there and see them work.
It is fun to reflect on how much this film has morphed over the years as I have constantly been learning and changing with the times. But it was also interesting to look back on the month I was there. I made sure to journal almost everyday. Seeing my thoughts change daily as I interviewed more perspectives and reflected on what story I am trying to tell, was a very beautiful experience to look back on as I read through those journal entries.
I am so excited to go into post-production now to be able to share what I learned with the world. We have transcribed and translated the Nepali Interviews and are now finishing transcribing the rest of the interviews! Then we begin assembly.
I do want to take the time in this post to also talk about the pandemic situation in Nepal. My last couple days there, they went into lockdown. Which means no one is allowed out except for small windows of time to get groceries and essentials, police checkpoints all over the city. I got on a flight home a day or two before they shutdown all international flights. The amount of cases there is crazy and with this being the second major lockdown, it has taken an even bigger toll on the people there financially. If you feel inclined to help, the links in this video are good places to donate.
More updates to come as we push through post production! Thank you for all your support so far!
