How we got here
As my plans get more and more secure for my first trip of the series, Nepal. I find myself reflecting on the journey it took to get here. I first came up with the concept for this idea in 2019 in my documentary production 3 class at DePaul University. For the class we had to plan a series or a feature film and begin the process of preproduction to be able to submit to grants. The initial idea got molded as I fleshed it out over the rest of 2019.
Then into 2020, I kept submitting to grants but because of my lack of footage, I felt it was hard to showcase what I was trying to do and get a good concept together. Then when the pandemic hit, I kept trying to submit to any grants that were still open, but my idea needed to change with the changing times.
I got stuck and when I found my way back to a new concept, I knew I needed to stop waiting around for the possibility of grants. I needed to save up and capture the story as it unfolded. With Julia and Sydney planning to go to Nepal to visit Claire (the three creators of the travel reset movement) I knew I needed to take a chance, plan a trip and go meet them there. So thus began my spring into action and me taking the opportunity.
We are now 2 weeks away from the end of my crowdfunding campaign and 3 weeks away from when I leave. The nerves are hitting but its also a lot of excitement. Thanks to everyone who has kept updated and supported me thus far! Lets keep spreading the word so we can try to reach my fundraising campaign goal in the next 2 weeks!!
